Send the guide as a page, not a download
Someone commented thirty seconds ago and is still in the app. If your link opens a page, they read it now. If it downloads a file, they read it later, and later usually means never. Write the thing in autoreplyig and send a short link that opens straight away.
What people send today, and why it leaks
Google Drive
Asks people to sign in, or shows a permissions error you only hear about when someone complains.
A PDF
Downloads to a phone, lands in a Files app nobody opens, and was laid out at A4 for a screen held in one hand.
A Notion page
Loads slowly, shows the Notion chrome, and looks like your notes rather than something you made for them.
Write it in the app
A markdown editor with the preview beside it, so what you see is what a follower gets. Headings, lists, tables, links and images, plus a toolbar if you would rather not remember the syntax.
Insert drops a table, a callout or a checklist in at your cursor. Templates give you a filled-in skeleton to edit instead of an empty page.
New documents start as drafts. The public link returns a 404 until you publish, which catches the usual mistake of sending a link to something half written.

The link preview
When the link lands in a DM, Instagram shows a preview card, and that card decides whether anyone taps. You control the description and cover image from the editor. Write the description as a promise rather than a title: "The 5 lighting setups, with settings" gets tapped more than "My guide".
Every document counts views, so you can compare reads against the click count in Analytics. When the gap is wide, the preview card is usually the problem, not the writing.
Privacy and indexing
Document pages are never indexed by search engines. They carry noindex headers and are blocked in robots.txt, and the link is a short random id rather than your title, so an internal name never leaks. Anyone holding the link can read the page, so treat it as shareable rather than private.

Documents deliver something. Forms collect something. Put the guide on one carousel card and the waitlist on the next, and let people choose.
