How it works
Pick the story reply trigger
A story reply arrives as a DM, but it is not a cold DM, and it should not be answered like one. It gets its own rule.
Write the reply that fits
They just watched something specific. Reference it: "Thanks for watching, here is the guide from today's story."
Mentions too
When someone @mentions you in a comment on their own post, a mention rule posts a public reply. Instagram will not allow a DM from a stranger's post, so the reply is the whole move.
Why not just use a DM rule
Because the context is completely different. Someone replying to a story is mid-conversation with something you just posted. Someone sending a cold DM has no idea what you posted today.
If you have not written a story rule, story replies fall through to your DM rules exactly as before, so nothing you already built stops working.
One thing to check
Mentions need a permission your account may not have granted yet if you connected before this shipped. Reconnect the account once and the mention trigger starts receiving events. Story replies work immediately.

Polls and reactions
Anything that gets people replying to a story can now be answered without you watching the inbox.
Reposted mentions
Someone tags you in their post. A warm public reply is worth more than a silent repost.
