Comment to DM
Turn every keyword comment into a DM with your link
You post the reel, you say "comment GUIDE and I will send it", and then you owe four hundred people a message. That is the part nobody warns you about. An automation takes the comment, sends the DM, tracks the tap, and leaves you with a list of everyone who actually wanted the thing.
Short answer
Instagram comment to DM automation watches a post for a keyword in the comments and sends that commenter a direct message with your link. On the official API it is fully supported by Meta, needs a Business or Creator account, and takes about five minutes to set up on your first post.
Three steps, then it runs itself
Connect through Meta
Official OAuth on a Business or Creator account. Your password never touches us, and one click on your side revokes everything.
Pick a post and a keyword
One reel, or every post on the account. Type the words that should fire it: LINK, GUIDE, PRICE. Matching ignores case, so shouting still works.
Write the DM once
Compose it in a live preview of the real conversation. Text, an image, up to three link buttons, or a swipeable carousel of cards.
Why it beats doing it by hand
It answers in seconds
The gap between someone commenting and hearing back is where interest dies. An automation closes that gap while the person is still in the app with your post on screen.
It runs at 2am
A reel that takes off overnight normally means a morning of copy and paste. The automation handles the whole wave and hands you a list of who clicked.
The public reply is social proof
Optionally drop a short "Sent you a DM ✓" under the comment. Everyone reading the comments sees that the keyword works, which is why the second wave is always bigger.
Every click is counted
Link buttons are tracked, so click through rate on your dashboard is measured rather than guessed. You find out which keyword actually sells.
It cannot spam anyone
The DM only ever goes to a person who commented first. There is no list import, no cold outreach, and no way to message someone who never interacted.
You pay per send
One credit per message sent. When credits run out, sending pauses instead of quietly billing you for an audience you did not choose to grow.
The limits are enforced, not explained
Meta puts real boundaries around messaging, and breaking them is what puts an account at risk. Rather than list them in a help article and hope, we hold the line in code: one private reply per comment, no replies to comments older than the window, and nothing sent outside the 24 hour messaging window.
When a rule blocks a send, the event is recorded and the message is skipped. Quiet is the correct behaviour there. A tool that tries anyway is a tool that eventually costs you the account.
Questions people ask first
Is comment to DM automation allowed on Instagram?
Yes, when it runs on the official Instagram API. Meta built the private reply endpoint for exactly this: answering a public comment in a DM. What is not allowed is automating a personal account through a browser session or password sharing, which is the approach that gets accounts restricted.
Do I need a Business or Creator account?
Yes. The Instagram API only exposes messaging on professional accounts. Switching is free in the Instagram app under Settings, then Account type. Your followers and posts are unaffected.
Can it reply to every comment, not just a keyword?
Yes. Set the match to all comments on a chosen post and it answers each one. Most people still prefer a keyword because it filters out the emoji and the tagged friends.
What about Reels and Stories?
Reels are posts, so comment triggers work on them the same way. Story replies and mentions come in as DMs and mentions, which are separate triggers on the automation.
How fast is the DM?
Seconds. The webhook from Meta arrives as the comment is posted and the reply goes out immediately, subject to Instagram accepting it.
Then send them somewhere
A DM is the start. Attach a form to collect an email, a document to deliver the guide itself, and push both to Google Sheets or your own endpoint.

Tell us what you were hoping to find. Requests from people who are still deciding are the ones that shape what gets built next, and they go straight to the person who writes the code. Leave an email and you get an answer, not a silent roadmap.
